Tina and Tom's Triumph TR6 Pages

About us...

We are Tina and Tom Garcia and currently reside in NE Ohio.  Why we have a TR is one story and why we have two TRs is another...

As the photos above show, Tina owned a 72 model back in the day.  At about the same time but a 1000 miles south, I was continually bugging the Orlando British Leyland dealer about a Spitfire.  I never bought the Spitfire and several years later, Tina lost her TR due to an accident.  Turn the clock forward about 30 years and I had the pleasure of meeting Tina.  She spoke often of her TR and how much she missed it.

With that being said, I found a 76 model locally that I thought I would fix up for her.  It was pretty much a basket case after looking deeper but it was a TR and we actually got it started and it drove...and it stopped...  Luckily, I am not one to shy away from a daunting mechanical challenge.  I was determined to get it back on the road for the enjoyment of my bride. Silly me!!!

Needless to say, as it got pulled apart and some work began, time moved on...rapidly...  Tina worked...  One of our daughters worked... I worked...  Progress was slow and got bogged down due to work and home commitments.  As time ticked away, Tina grew more anxious to get driving.  She scoured eBay looking for a drivable TR.  After several weeks, she located a 72 model in Michigan but the auction had just ended.  She contacted the sellers and the car was still available.  A couple more phone calls later and we were on the road with the car trailer.  We met a nice couple and they showed us around the garage.  He was converting another TR to accept a 5.0L Ford that was midway through the process.

We both drove the 72 and it seemed pretty clean except for a little rough at idle.  After minimal haggling, a deal was struck.  In the process, they threw in a fiberglass hard top and some unneeded parts from his 5.0L conversion - complete engine, diff, bumpers, brakes, along with a few buckets of odds and ends.  It was a good day!

So now Tina had a driver she could indulge in while I struggled with the 76 restoration.  Unfortunately, we took a couple year hiatus from the restoration effort to turn our attention to some home improvements and living life in general.  With that being said, these pages reflect our efforts on getting and keeping these cars on the road.
